Use your Xbox360 as Netflix Hardware

Netflix announcing the ability to run it’s streaming content to hardware devices has another method to access now without purchasing the Roku Hardware.

vmcNetflixMany Windows Friendly Home theater fans have already installed their Vista Media Center PC’s and have their xbox 360’s paired with it.

All that is required to access your netflix account is to install a third party tool called VMCNetflix to your Media Center.  Then access the installed application through the Media Center Extender Functionality on your Xbox.

Earlier this year, I previously tested a version that had a lot of promise from a different developer called MyNetflix however it appears that Anthony was so good, that Netflix hired him! :) Way to go Anthony!

Check out the youtube walkthrough (Thanks Thomas!) on what to expect with vmcNetflix:

New Netflix Hardware to change streaming content paradigms

Netflix Hardware

Netflix announced that the makers of the soundbridge audio device are about to sell a new piece of hardware for 99 bucks.  The only issue I see so far is that it looks like it’s only going to available for the “watch instantly” movies on netflix which is a small (albiet growing) collection compared to their 100K + library.

Hopefully this library as it grows to include newer content will give the itv and xbox media store a run for its money.  It does not indicate if it supports at least 1080i support for HD screen.  I have watched the netflix streaming content on my media center pc and it looks “decent” over a dvi connection, but it’s far from blueray native connections.
