iphone application for Sonos

Thanks again to Engadget for the picture

Sonos is still in my opinion the best streaming whole house audio system on the market.  They just sweetened the deal by delivering a new iphone ap store controller for free.  Using Wifi, you can control your Sonos (or a friends sonos) system.  Check out the demo here

It looks like it should also work with the ipod touch so long as ap store access is enabled.  This would be almost half the price of the sonos controller if you like that sort of thing.

Sonos works as a network extender! (wireless bridge)

So I was randomly playing with my xbox and needed a LAN port as the office Cat6 runs are not all terminated.  I have a sonos zone in the home office now as part of a recent wife requested audio build out. So strapped for ports, I plugged the xbox into one of the two Ethernet ports on the back of the sonos cube and bam… instant internet.  The xbox sees this as a “wired” connection.  Of course now that I realize this capability, sure enough I am finding posts about it.  So if you are looking to give some ethernet connectivity to rooms of your house AND looking for a fantastic whole house audio solution, Give sonos a try!  www.sonos.com
